Samuel Eugene “Gene” Riggan
Samuel Eugene “Gene” Riggan age 94, passed away peacefully October 31, 2014, at Quality Care Nursing Home. Born in Mt. Juliet, TN he was the son of the late Elvis and Lena Mitchell Riggan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Willette Sellars Riggan. Survived by his daughter Donna (Ken) Smith, her children: Michael and Courtney; son, Ronald (Carol) Riggan, their children: Scott and Michael; several great grandchildren and cousins in Lebanon.
Mr. Riggan attended the local school and Vanderbilt University. After thirty-three years serving his country in both the Army Air Corps and United States Air Force, he went to work for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, WA. They enjoyed all their travels throughout the Air Force tours of duty and Okinawa, Japan for three assignments. Gene and Willette relocated to Hearthside Assisted Living in Lebanon in 2005. Hearthside has been a wonderful place to spend his last years. He was a kind loving husband and father. Everyone loved him who knew him.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, November 2, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. at the Leeville Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Medlin officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday 12 Noon-2 p.m. at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home.
