Rev. Eltis Norton Brown
Rev. Eltis Norton Brown age 95 of the Leeville Community passed away peacefully January 28, 2019, at his home. A native of Birmingham, AL, he was the son of the late Clarence Edward Brown and Cora Mae Hogg Brown. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII, he was a graduate of Howard Samford College and Southern Theological Seminary. He taught special education and was an attendance officer for Metro Nashville Public Schools. He was a Southern Baptist Minister for over seventy-one years, having pastored: Corn Creek, Argo, Bordeaux, Baker’s Grove, Mt. Olivet and Smith Fork Baptist Churches. He was a member of Smith Fork Baptist Church in Statesville.
He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-nine years, Margaret Adams Brown; daughter, Carolyn Norrod; son-in-law, Jimmy Davis; three brothers: Edward, Lloyd and Louis Brown; two sisters: Katherine Langer, Naomi Jones.
Survived by two children: Steven Norton Brown, Kathryn Davis; two grandchildren: Rick Davis, Lori Davis; son-in-law, Richard Norrod.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 1, 2019, at 1 p.m. from the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. W.D. Thomason officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Leeville Cemetery with Bro. Dave Shelley officiating. Honorary Pallbearers: Wilson County Baptist Association, Claude Jordan, Billy Brummitt, Richard Norrod, members of Smith Fork Baptist Church. Active Pallbearers: Zeke Baxter, Gene Koulas, Jerry Harrel, Wayne Hardy, Terry Fitzpatrick, Freddie Cripps. Visitation Thursday 4-7 p.m. and Friday 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
