Howard Parker Price
Howard Parker Price of Lake in the Hills died January 6, 2015 at Journey Care in Woodstock, IL after a brief battle with leukemia. He was born June 19, 1936 in Lebanon, Tennessee to Clyde N. and Irene Price. He graduated from Tennessee Technological University in 1959 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Howard spent his career in telecommunications beginning with the REA in Washington D.C. where he worked on standards for telephone circuits. He was also an engineer supervisor for Anaconda Wire and Cable Company and then for most of his career a General Manager for Céntel Telephone. At Céntel he focused on regional switching centers, network design, lightening protection and fiber optic deployment. He retired with Sprint Telephone and then continued working in his field as a consultant with Tellabs and Argonne National Labs. Howard also served in the National Guard in Washington DC during John F. Kennedy’s term in office. He was present at Kennedy’s inauguration and funeral and also stood at the stage during Martin Luther Kings “I Have a Dream” speech. Howard was an active member of Crystal Lake Evangelical Free Church. He taught Sunday school and sang in the choir for most of his life. He had a profound love for Jesus Christ, singing praise songs, hymns and sharing Christ’s love with all that he met. Howard was also a member of The Gideons International.
Howard is survived by his beloved wife, Hilda, children, Lisa (Rodney) Hazel, Stefanie (Jeff) Nimick, Karen (Adrian) Newis, Angie Lakoskey, and Bryan Parker (Kelly) Price; Siblings Carl (Mary Lena) Price, Marilyn (Bill) Ellis, Don (Faye) Price and Rena (Joe) Langford; 15 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grand Child and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Irene Price and grandson Treyce James Lakoskey.
Visitation will be Monday, January 12, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home, 241 W. Main St., Lebanon, TN. The visitation will continue from 9:30am until the 11:00 am funeral service Tuesday, January 13th, at Shop Springs Baptist Church, 3022 Sparta Pike, Lebanon, TN. Bro. Donald Owens and Bro. Carl Price will officiate. Burial will follow at Bryan Cemetery for extended family.
