Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Adams Hackney will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Anne Whitefield, Nancy Stroud, and Bro. James Haynes officiating. Interment will follow at the Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation Wednesday 2-7 PM and Thursday after 9 AM at Ligon & Bobo.
Mrs. Hackney, age 95 of Lebanon passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at the Pavilion.
Born April 9, 1922, in Rutherford County, she is the daughter of the late Harvey Johnson Adams and Nolia Smith Adams. She received her B. S. and Masters’ degrees from M.T.S.U. and was a member of the Mount Juliet Church of Christ. She was a teacher having taught in Wilson and Davidson Counties for thirty five years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty three years, Woodrow Hill “Pete” Hackney on June 19, 2011; three sisters, Carmine Gorham, Nellie Haynes, and Zora Williams; and two brothers, Jessie and Preston Adams.
She is survived by one sister, Christine Adams Fox of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers: Members of Mt. Juliet Church of Christ, special nieces and nephews, Anne Whitefield, and Gini Warmath.
