George D. Givens
Funeral service for Mr. George D. Givens will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Josh Cornelius and Victor Blackwood officiating, followed by interment with military honors at Greenvale Cemetery. Visitation Sunday 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. at Ligon & Bobo prior to the service.
Mr. Givens, age 92 of Lebanon passed away November 16, 2023.
Born in Greenvale, he is the son of the late Jessie Franklin Givens and Jodella Hudson Givens. He graduated Watertown High School and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He managed Neely Coble Company Body Shop for twenty five years. He was an active member of the Greenvale Community, attending Greenvale Baptist Church and serving as a lifelong trustee for the Greenvale Cemetery. He had a passion for agriculture spending time raising Simmental cattle and growing a family garden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Ina Ruth Wilson Givens, wife of fifty years and Billie Givens, wife of ten years; son, William David Givens; daughter, Joyce Marie Jones; and a brother, Thomas Hudson Givens; and granddaughter Sarah Morgan Jones.
He is survived by his wife of twelve years, Mary Ruth Rogers Givens; three grandchildren: Kathryn Givens Rose, Jared Maxwell (Katie) Givens, and Ashley Jones; two great grandchildren: Addilyn Grace & Grady Maxwell Givens; and sister, Frankie (Jimmy) Floyd.
