Evelyn Tripp Ligon
Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Tripp Ligon will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Rodney Duckett officiating. Interment will follow at Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation Monday 10 AM – 9 PM and Tuesday after 10 AM at Ligon & Bobo.
Mrs. Ligon, age 92 of the Gladeville Community left her earthly home and entered her heavenly home on Saturday, September 10, 2016, of breast cancer.
Born August 6, 1924, in the Leeville Community, she is the daughter of the late Samuel Valrus Tripp and Anna Jones Tripp. She accepted Christ August 11, 1940, and was baptized in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in the Leeville Community. She was the longest serving member of Gladeville Baptist Church where she taught Adult Sunday School over fifty two years, taught VBS, and was former president of the Bragg Group WMU. She graduated with honors from Lebanon High School in 1943. In the late 1960’s, she opened her home to Kandy Reese Simms, David and Ronnie Reese. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of almost fifty four years, Hugh Ellis Ligon on June 2, 1999; infant daughter, Nancy Gay Ligon on August 29, 1949; grandson, Craig Henley on April 27, 2009; sisters, Louise (J.A.) McDonald, Marie (Smith) Dobson, Mildred (Darmon) Hall; and a brother, Clyde (Jean) Tripp.
She is survived by son Terry Hugh Ligon; daughters, Joy Patty Henley and Anna Fay (Jay) Leeman; grandson Samuel Scott (Gloria) Henley; great granddaughter, Kayla Brooke Henley all of Lebanon; nephew, Wayne (Jan) Hall; and nieces, Brenda Sherron (Earl) Campbell, Clydette Chatham, Nelda Ann Thompson, Judy (Ron) Baker, Elaine Dobson, and Regina Hall.
