Eugene “Rusty” Gray

Mr. Eugene “Rusty” Gray age 81 of Lebanon passed away November 4, 2025, at his home.  He was born in Wilson County, TN, February 26, 1944, the son of the late Ernest and Mattie White Gray.  He was a 1962 graduate of Lebanon High School and was a member of Maple Hill Church of Christ.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Era serving in Germany.  He retired from the Wilson County Road Commission after thirty years of service.

Mr. Gray was preceded in death by four sisters:  Elsie Watson, Carolyn Thompson, Josephine Thompson, and Ernestine Noell.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years: Claudette Poole Gray; two children: Jason Gray, Kimberly (Paul) McPeak; two grandsons: Jackson and Jace Gray; sister, Evelyn Pruitt; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 7, 2025, at 11 a.m. from the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Wayne Miller and Adam Noles officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow in Conatser Cemetery.  Pallbearers: Jimmy Smith, Mark and David Thompson, Kevin Kaiser, Jake Smith, and Jace Gray. Visitation Thursday 3-7 p.m. and Friday after 9 a.m.

    I became knowledgeable of this family years ago when my father, John Pruitte, married Rusty’s sister, Evelyn. Rusty was such a likeable man and always had some wits of humor he would always share. Family gatherings that I attended were always a blessing to hear this man come into the house. I am thankful to have been a part of such a loving family. He will be sadly missed but I am assured he was welcomed home by the Master Himself. Much love, and God Bless to the family.
