Eld. Dennis Wayne Ellis

Eld. Dennis Wayne Ellis age 69 of Lebanon and a former resident of Pleasant Shade, TN passed away May 19, 2024, at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital.  He was born November 11, 1954, in Warren County, KY son of the late James Leon Ellis and Heatha Lee Dalton Ellis.  He was a graduate of Franklin-Simpson County High School and Western Kentucky University. Almost all of his working career he worked in quality control at several auto part manufacturing plants around the country.  A Missionary Baptist preacher, he was ordained to the full work of the ministry in 1975 by New Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Logan County, KY.  He pastored New Harmony 1975-1988 and then pastored Old Way Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin, KY 1988-2019 when failing health following an automobile accident forced him to give up being a pastor.  He attended Hartsville Missionary Baptist Church.

Eld. Ellis was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane Case Ellis; sister, Teresa Marlin; brother, Steven Ray Ellis.

Survivors include his wife, Lynette Whitley Ellis; three children:  Chris (Shelia) Ellis, Mandy Ellis, Brandon (Angie) Ellis; step-daughter, Amanda (James) McCabe; eleven grandchildren; Ashlyn (Nik) Agee, Shayla Hammonds, Gavin Hammonds, Daniel Ellis, Lilly Ellis, Elisha Ellis, Nolah Ellis, Brooklyn Ellis, Billy Brannan, J.J. Brannan, Mason McCabe; brother, Gary (Linda) Ellis.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 12 Noon from the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Lebanon, TN with Eld. Brent Hall and Eld. Barney Allison officiating.  Visitation Tuesday 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday after 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hartsville Missionary Baptist Church.
