Bettye Jones Stewart

Mrs. Bettye Jones Stewart age 87 of the LaGuardo Community passed away January 17, 2024.  She was born December 14, 1936, in Davidson County, TN, daughter of the late Rev. Ernest Abraham Jones and Evelyn Cooper Jones.  She was a graduate of Joelton High School, attended Belmont University and graduated from Cumberland University in Lebanon.  She was a homemaker and co-owner with her husband, of Stewart’s Grocery in the LaGuardo Community for over seventeen years.  She was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church.  A very talented pianist, through the years she played the piano for the LaGuardo, Immanuel and Victory Baptist Churches.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on June 4, 2017, by her husband of sixty-two years, Charles Daniel “Dan” Stewart Sr.; a son, Danny Stewart; two brothers:  Jimmy Ray (Ann) Jones, Ernest “Ronnie” Jones.

She is survived by three children:  Teddy (Laurie) Stewart, Janelyn Knowles (Gil) Janke, Dana Faye Stewart; daughter-in-law, Diane Stewart; sister-in-law, Sandra Jones; nine grandchildren: Danielle (Jason) Black, Bethany (Drew) Green, Chuck (Rachel) Stewart, Luke (Missy) Stewart, Andy (Hailey) Stewart, Noah (Sierra) Stewart, John Knowles, Stewart (Madelyn) Knowles, Rebecca Fallin; nineteen great-grandchildren:  Aidan and Quinn Black, Mylee and Thomas Daniel Knowles, Grant and Reed Stewart, Reese and Andie Blair Knowles, Kaylee Williams, Brynleigh Starks, Levi and Ruby Green, Sophie and Norah Stewart, Cora Faye Knowles, John Patton Fallin, Charlie Rose, Hank Andrew, and Everly Faye Stewart; and special friend, Kim Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, JANUARY 27, 2024, at 10 a.m. from the Immanuel Baptist Church, 214 Castle Heights Ave., Lebanon with Bro. Chuck Groover and Bro. John Hunn officiating.  Interment in the Stewart Family Plot at LaGuardo Cemetery.  Pallbearers:  Chuck, Andy, Luke, and Noah Stewart, John and Stewart Knowles, Jason Black and Drew Green.  Visitation Friday, JANUARY 26, 2024, 3-7 p.m. at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund.

      Bettye was a long time friend to our family. She was our music teacher, our school teacher and our taught us how to live by her example. Her Dad was our pastor at LaGuardo Baptist Church. A major family in our lives. To the family “continue on in your lives with the example that has been set.”
