Funeral services for Mr. Alvin Lee Brewington, age 95 of Lebanon, will be held on Friday May 26, 2023 at 1PM from Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home. Bro. Gordon Lee and John Davis will officiate and interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10AM until 1PM service time.
Mr. Brewington passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 23, 2023 at the Providence Gardens in Mt. Juliet surrounded by his family. Born in Davidson County August 14, 1927, he is the son of the late Lynn Brewington and Maude Worley Brewington Pruitt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Phillip Alan Brewington; daughter, Sherry Lynn Maynard; brothers, James, Calvin, Claude, & Melvin Brewington. He was a member of the Church of God Worship and Ministry Center on Hartsville Pike. As a young man, he went to work for the Lebanon Woolen Mills and then worked for many years at the Lebanon Garment Factory. Mr. Brewington then went to workd for AVCO, as an Aerospace Fabricator, and retired after 31 years of service. In his retirement, he could be found working on cars or spending free time with his family and friends. He was especially fond of playing pool at the Lebanon Senior Citizens Center. Mr. Brewington loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing at Center Hill Lake.
He married the love of his life, Mrs. Edith Hix Brewington in 1948, and the two would be nearly inseparable for the remainder of his days. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his children, Gwyn Phillips of Lebanon, Rosalyn “Susie” (Kerry) Keen of Trousdale Co., Rickey (Tammy) Brewington, Michael (Debbie) Brewington, and Nelson (Kimberly) Brewington all of Lebanon; grandchildren, Dana Moore, Amy Gross, David Hankins, Matthew Phillips, Corey Phillips, Glenda Kisner, Tabatha Hottes, Daniel Brewington, Whitney Hoover, Kalyn Resha, Jordan Brewington, Shonda Gray, and Beth Lamb; sisters, Annie Tucker and Geraldine (John) Davis; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of extended family also survive.
Pallbearers: Daniel Brewington, David Hankins, Matthew Phillips, Corey Phillips, Johnny “Winky” Davis, and Mark Davis.
Honorary Pallbearers: Longtime friend Mr. John Green, Garner Pfeiffer, and Luke Pfeiffer.
