Lella Sue Barlow Allen
Funeral services for Mrs. Lella Sue Barlow Allen, age 79 of Lebanon and formerly of the Hilham Community in Jackson County, will be held on Thursday August 24, 2023 at 11 AM from Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home. Bro. Jason Mull will officiate and interment will follow at 2 PM in the New Hope Cemetery in Hilham, TN. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 PM until 8 PM, and again on Thursday after 10 AM. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family requests memorial contributions to be made to Sherry’s Hope, an organization that Mrs. Allen held dear, after she overcame cancer three separate times. (Sherry’s Hope P.O. Mrs. Allen passed away on August 21, 2023 at the Vanderbilt Wilson County Medical Center in Lebanon. Born in Jackson County, Tennessee January 24, 1944, she was the first of seven children of the late Thomas and Edna Poston Barlow. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie Barlow and sisters-in-law, Fern Allen and Reba Barlow.
As a young girl, Sue attended the Community Church in Hilham, TN, where she was saved and was baptized. She later united with Rocky Valley Baptist Church in Lebanon, where she remained a faithful member until her passing. Mrs. Allen married the love of her life, Mr. Daniel Lee “Danny” Allen on April 21, 1967, and together the couple shared 57 “good years” as husband and wife. She worked various jobs in her younger life, but her most prized career achievement was becoming a mother and caring for her family. Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother, and a dear friend to many. She loved NFL and college football, gardening, church functions, drinking coffee, antiquing with her “Antique Ladies”, and just about anything to do with her family and friends.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her husband, Danny Allen of Lebanon; children, Tim (LeAnn) Allen of Lebanon and Amy (Mike) Evans of Alexandria; grandchildren, Hannah, Holly, & Noah Evans of Alexandria, Zach & Justin Allen of Lebanon, Lacey (Andrew) Kellow of Hartsville, and Allison Lawson of Lebanon; great-grandchildren, Kenson & Kenslee Lawson and Jameson Kellow; siblings, Ralph (Gail) Barlow of Rickman, Bruce Barlow, Anna Ruth (Jim) Morgan, Mike Barlow, Jeff (Donna) Barlow all of Hilham; sister-in-law, June Barlow of Cadiz, KY; brother-in-law, David Allen of Cookeville; and a host of well-loved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
