Lois VanHorn Weatherly

Mrs. Lois Lee VanHorn Weatherly age 88, widow of the late Ernest R. Weatherly died Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at her home surrounded by loved ones.  Visitation Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at 11 a.m. until funeral services at 2 p.m. at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Don McElroy officiating.  Interment – Barton’s Creek Cemetery.

Lois was born March 29, 1928, in Montesano, Washington.  She was raised in Seattle and graduated from West Seattle High School.  She met her husband to be, Ernest, at a USO-sponsored dance in Seattle.  He and his fellow crew members were awaiting major repairs on his destroyer, which had been torpedoed in the Mindanao Straits, heading with U.S. Naval forces for the Sea of Japan.  They were married March 1946, in Helena, Montana.  The newly married couple returned to Lebanon in June 1946. This was a big adjustment, she laughingly recalled, there were no air conditioners and the climate was so much more hot and humid than the Northwest.  She began working for Draper and Darwin Stores as an accountant and office manager for over thirty-seven years.  She was active in the Lebanon Business and Professional Women’s Club and was instrumental in getting the Lebanon Senior Citizens started. She was a student of God’s creation, loving wildlife, especially birds and rocks of any description.  She painted and incorporated these into works of art.  Her greatest pride, however was in her family, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Sienna Brown VanHorn; and her beloved husband of sixty-seven years, Ernest.

She is survived by two daughters:  Karen (Donald) O’Roark, Darlene (Gary) Enzfelder; grandchildren:  Glen Enzfelder, Joy (David) Pine, Erin (Justin) Smith, Leeanna (Blake) McEntyre, great-grandchildren:  Ella Kate Pine, Sienna Carin “CeCe” Pine, Eden Monroe Pine and Sofi Athena Smith.

Active Pallbearers:  Glen Enzfelder, David Pine, Donald O’Roark, Tom, Roberson, Blake McEntyre, Gary Enzfelder.  Honorary Pallbearers:  Richard Bohannon, and Michael Bohannon of Muscle Shoals, AL
