Thomas “Tommy” Earl Garrison
Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Earl Garrison was born in Watertown TN on December 20, 1943. At age 81 on August 23, 2025 he passed away peacefully at his home with his wife. The Lord and His Angels came to take him home. It was pouring rain and when they took him out, the sun was shining bright.
He was a great man and always tried to help people. He would make friends wherever he went. He has a lot of people that think the world of him and love him so much.
He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. His hobbies included piddling in the yard, working on cars, and just spending time with his family. He is the son of the late Alsie Edward Garrison and Nonnie Ural Porterfield Garrison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Dale Garrison, and sisters Oma Lee McCrary Roberts and Jenelle Hughes.
He retired from TRW with 31 years of service. He did a 2 year tour in the United States Army, finishing his tour in Ulm Germany in the Service Battery as a NATO Guard over the Pershing Missile1/81st Battalion. He held a SP 4 rank with an honorable discharge.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Leavern Grisham Garrison; daughter, Nicole (Anthony) Dyer; grandson, James Thomas Dyer; sister, Betty Worley; sisters in law: Sandy Winfree and Liz (Tim) Ferrell; numerous nieces and nephews; and our special kids Jennifer Gray-Greer, Cole, Gracie, Jada and Garry.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with great nephew, Eld. Lain Tomlinson officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation Tuesday from 4-8 PM, and Wednesday 10 AM until services. Pallbearers: James Thomas Dyer, Jeff Baines, Aylon Baines, Larry Hughes, Tim Ferrel, Kevin Grisham, Keith Zachary, and Cole Borcherding
Thank you to his favorite Doctor at VA Murfreesboro Derrick Mobley, and special thanks to Hardie Sorrels III and his office worker Jennifer. Jessica at Gentiva all the great nurses that took great care of him. Special thanks to the aides and friends Amanda and Brea. To all our nieces and nephews that love him and have been there in our times of need or just came with a big hug. He will be greatly missed by all but never forgotten.
