Funeral service for Mrs. Shirley Taylor Nixon will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney Duckett officiating. Interment will follow at the Nixon Family Cemetery in the Defeated Creek Community of Smith County. Visitation Tuesday 3-7 PM and Wednesday after 9 AM.
Mrs. Nixon, age 83 of Lebanon passed away August 18, 2024, at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital.
Born Shirley Louise Taylor on February 21, 1941, in Wilson County, she is the daughter of the late Melvin and Annie Louise Johnson Taylor. She was a former sales clerk at K-Mart, and was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Ray Nixon on May 31, 2016; daughter, Tammy Brown; step son, Scottie Ray Nixon; sister, Joyce Barrett; and two brothers, William & Harold Taylor.
She is survived by two children: Teresa (Jr.) Lago and Kim (Steve) Goolsby; step daughter, Renee Wills; brother, Ronnie “Shorty” (Kathy) Taylor; and a son in law, Charles Brown; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers: Charles Brown, Austin Brown, Chase Malone, Kenneth Gilley, K. L. Winningham, Marty Taylor, Terry Taylor, and Wayne Taylor.
