Shirley Ann Malone
Shirley Ann Malone, 89, of Lebanon passed peacefully with Malinda and Jeremy at her side at Quality Health & Rehabilitation on Monday, June 9, 2025.
Ms. Malone, a life-long resident of Wilson County in the Lebanon and Watertown (Alexandria) areas, is survived by daughter, Malinda Malone Redmon (Jerry W. Rhodes); grandsons Jason Redmon (Danielle) & J. Jeremy Redmon; a brother, Shannon Tomerlin (Mary Margaret); and nephews, Greg Tomerlin, Jeff Tomerlin, and Scott Tomerlin. In addition to many others Ms. Shirley cherished, she also has her running buddy, sister-in-law, and best friend, Geraldine Tomerlin to remember her. Shirley Ann was preceded in death by Jerry W. Rhodes, brother, Phillip Tomerlin, sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Tomerlin, and parents Oscar & Janie Lee Shannon Tomerlin.
Shirley Ann Malone, a 1953 graduate of Lebanon High School, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, but especially enjoyed working and maintaining her house & neighborhood. She enjoyed the work and was proud to be mowing her yard on a zero-turn up until 88 and was saddened when she no longer could. A fleeting mindset of independence was a devastating blow to Ms. Shirley and she missed being able to drive on her own. Shirley Ann worked at the Alexandria Shirt Factory as a garment maker for over 30-years, with many other years at TRW, AVCO Aerostructures, American Airlines, and jokingly even 2-weeks at Opryland Theme Park in the “do-woop” area. Above all, the most cherished and loved was her last 15-working years before retirement with Farm Bureau of Wilson County where she thoroughly loved seeing people she knew and sharing her knowledge of community throughout Wilson County.
Funeral arrangements for Ms. Malone, directed by Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home, will be Friday, June 13, 2025 (fitting and for what she would find funny) from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM; services to follow with burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Lebanon. Mr. Bob Haley to officiate. Service pallbearers to include family and friends. Honorary pallbearers to include Greg Tomerlin, grandsons, Jason & Jeremy, and other family and friends. Malinda and Jeremy extend special thanks to Stephanie R., Kendra B., and LaDawn M. at Quality Care — you three ladies were her favorites.
Shirley Ann will be missed by all those that loved her and now that the “Roll has been called up Yonder” we know she will be looking down on us, and her beloved yard, with a smile!
