Sam David Swindell Sr.

Mr. Sam David Swindell Sr. age 87 of Lebanon passed away May 19, 2024, at the Pavilion.  Born October 8, 1936, in Wilson County, TN, he was the son of the late Henry and Mary Amelia Harlan Swindell.  He was a 1955 graduate of Lebanon High School and was a faithful member of the Flat Rock Church of Christ.  He began his working career after high school at the Lebanon Woolen Mill, a career that would last over twenty-five years.  He started out working as a weaver and worked his way up to the position of personnel manager and finally became a co-owner of the company.  He later became the owner of Swindell’s Men’s Store on the Lebanon square and retiring after twenty years in business.  He loved the outdoors and enjoyed working with his animals on his farm.

He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-years, Betty Ruth Reeder Swindell; infant son, Sam David Swindell Jr.; brothers-in-law, Billy and Tommy Reeder; sister-in-law, Carolyn Rice.

Survivors include his daughter, Michelle (Lee) Randolph; two grandchildren:  Bryce (Emily) Randolph, Lexie (Jesse) West; four great-grandchildren:  Maddux, Brantlee and Knox Randolph, and Quinn West; brother-in-law, Fred (Edwina) Reeder; Virginia (Tommy) Curtis, Nancy Hayes and Linda George.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 10 a.m. from the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Wayne Hunt officiating.  Interment – Bethlehem Cemetery.  Pallbearers:  Bryce, Maddux, and Brantlee Randolph, Jesse West, Brent Finley, Lonnie Hulse, Jimmy George, Jim Goodall.  Visitation Monday 3-7 p.m. and Tuesday after 9 a.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Flat Rock Church of Christ.
