Patsy Evon Lawson
Patsy Evon Lawson was excitedly welcomed into her eternal home on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Patsy was a lifelong resident of Wilson County, graduating from Lebanon High School at the top of her class. She spent her life in dedication to her family, friends, and church. As an accomplished musician, published writer, poet, and award winning charcoal artist, Patsy loved sharing her love for her family, country, and Jesus through her incredible artistic gifts. She constantly inspired those around her to laugh and sing. Her greatest joy was found in time spent with her grandsons, Ryder and Scout, as well as with her fellow church members at First Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her lovely guitar renditions and songs, humor, resilience, kindness to all, generosity, and endless devotion to the word of God.
A product of humble beginnings and many obstacles to overcome, she was a beacon of strength and perseverance in the face of any set back. Always finding grace and joy in her love for her Savior, she was proof that there is no earthly sorrow that heaven cannot heal. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Clarabelle Mathis, sister, Audrey Mathis, brother, Leroy Mathis, and husband, John “Butch” Lawson.
She is survived by son, Thomas Lawson; daughters, Cindy (Mark) Mayhugh, and Dr. Tara Lawson-Loftis (Bryan Loftis); Grandchildren, Ryder and Scout Loftis, Alex and Rachel Mayhugh; Sisters, Jennie Mae (Steve) Shelton, Peggy (James) Parkerson, and Billie Shelton, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her remains rest at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Lebanon, where funeral service will be 4:00 P.M. Thursday, February 6, 2024, with Bro. David Freeman officiating. Visitation for those who loved her beginning at 1:00 P.M. at Ligon & Bobo.
