Dwight Wendell McClanahan

Mr. Dwight Wendell McClanahan age 84 of the Tuckers Cross Roads Community passed away September 19, 2019, at his home.  A native of the Grant Community in Smith County, he was the son of the late Roy and Altha House McClanahan.  He was a 1953 graduate of Gordonsville High School.  He was a member of Grant Missionary Baptist Church, the New Middleton Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. After high school, he went to work for H.G. Hills and then Jersey Farms delivering milk to homes and schools.  Dwight was best known for dealing in and collecting antiques which he had done most of his adult life.  He loved going to estate sales and flower gardening.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavetta Judkins McClanahan; son-in-law, Ronnie Henry; three brothers:  Hollis, James Roy and Hoyal McClanahan; and sister, Thersa Franklin.

He is survived by three children:  Vivian (Tom) Hunter, Cheryl McClanahan Henry (Rick Winfrey), Dwight Fitzgerald McClanahan; three grandchildren:  Dwayne Winfree, Jessica McClanahan, Wendell Winfree; two great-grandchildren:  Ricky Aaron Winfree and John Winfree; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 23, 2019, at 1 p.m. from the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Dickie Johnson officiating.  Interment – Grant Cemetery. Pallbearers:  John and Jason Franklin, Billy and Kenneth House, Fritz Humphries, and Billy McClanahan.  Visitation Sunday 1-5 p.m. and Monday after 11 a.m. at Ligon & Bobo.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grant Cemetery Mowing Fund, 2850 Ben Green Rd., Lebanon, TN 37090.

    Dwight will be missed I remember him delivering milk when I was a little boy he was a wonderful person always kind to every body I thought the world of him family u have .y sympathy he is in a better place and not suffering anymore

    Cheryl, So sorry for your loss. I knew Mr Dwight has been sick for a while. He was a good friend, we have missed him at the auctions this year. I thought of him this summer when we sold several big signs. He always liked coming to the auctions. He will be greatly missed. love and prayers for you and all your family during these hard times.
