Dr. Robert W. Givan
Graveside service for Dr. Robert W. Givan will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home on Wednesday after 11:00 A.M.
Dr. Givan, age 90 of Lebanon passed away peacefully November 16, 2024, at the Pavillion.
Born January 2, 1934, in Old Hickory, he is the son of the late Robert James Givan and Martha Elizabeth Fisher Givan. He was a 1952 graduate of Dupont High School. He went on to attend Austin Peay State University, and in 1957 graduated from the Tennessee School of Dentistry in Memphis. On December 28, 1956, he married the former Virginia Shipp. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lebanon. Dr. Givan practiced dentistry for forty years. He was very blessed to have had a long career and a long retirement of traveling and fishing and watching the Vols no matter what the sport. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son in law, Tracy Cross.
He is survived by his wife of nearly sixty eight years, Virginia Shipp Givan; three daughters, Ginger (Mark) Brown, Robin Cross, and Tracy (Bryan) White; grandchildren: Jarod (Brooke) Brown, Austin (Anna) Brown, Wesley (Kelsie) Cross, Dexter (Samantha) Cross, Ryann (Daniel) Nemi, Sydney Hallums, and Katie Beth White; great grandchildren: Ryder, Dax, Theo, and Otto Brown, Ella, Rhett, and Demi Rae Cross.
