Mr. Allen passed away on August 10, 2024 at his home in Lebanon. Born in Detroit, Michigan June 3, 1945, he was the son of the late Willard Clay Allen and Lydia Mai Smith Allen. The family moved to Gainesboro, TN when Danny was just a small child. Danny graduated Jackson County High School in 1963, and married the love of his life Lella Sue Barlow on April 21, 1967. The couple would share 57 years of marriage until the Lord called Sue home on August 21, 2023. In addition to his parents and his wife, he is preceded in death by his sisters-in-law, Fern Allen & Reba Barlow; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Barlow.

Danny was well loved by anyone who had the opportunity to know him. It was said that he never met a stranger. He had a way with people, and could always find a friend in a crowd. Danny loved most sports, especially football, but some would say that his favorite sport was talking. Conversation was something he excelled at, and he always had a story to tell. Some true, some perhaps “stretched” just a bit. Danny retired from TRW-Ross Gear in 2000 having worked there for over 30 years. He was a member of Rocky Valley Baptist Church in Lebanon, TN.

Mr. Allen is survived by his children; Tim (LeAnn) Allen of Lebanon and Amy (Mike) Evans of Alexandria; grandchildren, Hannah, Holly, & Noah Evans of Alexandria, Zach & Justin Allen of Lebanon, Lacey (Andrew) Kellow of Hartsville, and Allison Lawson of Lebanon; great-grandchildren, Kenson & Kenslee Lawson and Jameson Kellow; brother, David Allen of Cookeville; in-laws whom he loved as brothers & sisters, Ralph & Gail Barlow, Bruce Barlow, Anna Ruth & Jim Morgan, Mike Barlow, Jeff & Donna Barlow, June Barlow; and a host of well-loved nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Mr. Danny was my Scout Leader when I was at Sam Houston in the 70’s. His son, Tim & I were classmates & my parents & Tim’s were acquaintances and we all visited their home on Forrest Ave. Fast-forward 4-Decades & my Son (Andrew) married Mr. Danny’s Granddaughter (Lacey) & suddenly the Allen’s were back in my life! It was a pleasure getting to spend time with Mr. Danny at family events these last 7-Years. He was a treasure and us Kellow’s will miss him immensely! Rest now my friend

Sue and Danny were special friends. Sue, and five others would have lunch once a month. We all dealt in Antiques and would travel to other cities, to have lunch and of course antique shops. Danny was nice to all of us and he did love to talk. RIP Danny and we will be praying for you to meet up with your SUE. Tell her we love her and will now miss the two of you.
  3. Jimmie Loftis says:
Danny and his brother, David, are my first cousins (my mom and his dad were brother/sister). Fond childhood memories of our family visits to his family in Gainesboro. Played hide and seek, checkers and corn cob fights. His mom was a great cook and his dad worked at the cheese plant where he let me tour and eat a few samples.

Danny & sue were our next door neighbors for 20 years. Best friends & loved each other dearly, we made alot of good memories. Jeff & I will miss them both. Happy to know they are together again. Danny was not Danny without sweet Sue, his health went down, he never got over his surgeries & suffered alot with back pain. He is not suffering today. Safe in the arms of Jesus & precious Sue. Rest now dear Danny & Sue. You will be missed.
