Ruby Kay Hollis

Ruby Kay Hollis covercrop obitRuby Kay Hollis, “Granny Kay”, peacefully departed this life on Friday April 24, 2015 at UMC in Lebanon, TN.  She was born to the late Freeman F. and Myrtle Sullins Hollis in Wilson County, Tennessee.  She was a member of the Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hollis is preceded in death by her husband George Thomas Wittman of Tampa, Florida, and a brother-in-law Tommy Woodliff, Jr. of Lebanon.  She is survived by daughter and son-in-law; Katherine Wittman (Bryce) Grissom of Brentwood, TN; granddaughter, Dr. Stephanie Grissom (Kyle) Attarian, M.D.; great-granddaughter, Layla Jane Attarian all of St. Louis, MO.  Also surviving Mrs. Hollis are sisters, Irene Woodliff and Nellie (Lewis) Smith of Lebanon, TN, Ann (Bob) Hix, of Fallon, NV, and Peggy Ann Hollis of Nashville, TN.  She also leaves behind a niece and several nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Mrs. Hollis was a retiree of Hartmann Luggage and a former longtime volunteer at University Medical Center.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Mrs. Hollis enjoyed gardening, cooking, and crafts.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday April 26, 2015 at 1:30pm from the Cedar Grove Cemetery (609 South Maple St. Lebanon, TN 37087) Rev. Kevin Medlin will officiate.  There will be no public visitation prior to the services at the grave.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Woodliff, III, Noah Woodliff, Jeff Garrett, Kyle Attarian, Bobby Hix, and Eddie Hix.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Retirees of Hartmann Luggage.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr.’s Sorrels, Kehinde, and Olivier, the ICU staff at UMC and the staff of Lebanon Health and Rehab.  Her family is very grateful for the dedication of Granny Kay’s home caregiver and assistant, Mrs. Kim Thompson, of Lebanon, TN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church (522 Castle Heights Ave. Lebanon, TN 37087) or to the Lebanon Senior Citizens Center (670 Coles Ferry Pike, Lebanon, TN 37087).
