Robert Carson Williams

1Rev. Robert Carson Williams age 85 of Lebanon died May 2, 2015 at his home.  Born April 11, 1930, in Kingston in Roane County, TN, he was the son of the late James Otha Williams and Hazel Lee Fisher Williams.  He was a 1948 graduate of Lebanon High School and a graduate of The University of The South School of Theology.  He was ordained as a Deacon in the Episcopal Church in 1957 and ordained as a Priest in 1958.  His Parishes included Brownsville, Ripley, Old Hickory, Chattanooga; his last assignment was Hamilton County Episcopal Chapel and St. Barnabas Center for the Elderly.  He retired in 1992.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Hughes; and brother, David Curtis Williams.  Survived by:  brother-in-law, Kenneth W. Hughes; niece, Harriett Ann (David) Thorne; nephew, Randall Walker Hughes; several cousins.

Graveside services will be held Friday, May 8, 2015, at 1 p.m. from the Wilson County Memorial Gardens with The Rev. Dr. Bill Dalglish officiating.  The family request in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.  Visitation Friday 11 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home.

    Father Bob assisted with services at Holy Comforter in Monteagle when he was a seminarian at The University of the South School of Theology. Many years later we met him again at Epiphany when we moved to Lebanon. We had great respect for him and are saddened by his passing.
