Richard Franklin Martz

noflower-flagMr. Richard (Rick) Franklin Martz, age 76 of Lebanon, passed away on Sunday July 6, 2014.

Rick was born in Graham, Texas on May 8, 1938 to Amer Otto and Emma Lou Hodges Martz. He was married for over 50 years, to his best friend and wife, Frieda Rubsam Martz.

Rick made his career spending 22 years as an Army aviator and retires as a CW4 Warrant Officer.  A member of the graduating flight school class 64-6W he served nearly 5 years in the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Rick then dedicated 18 years to the Federal Aviation Administration-Flight Standards and 2 years with the National Accident Investigation Team out of Washington DC.

He was honored with the National Defense Service Medal, Sr. Army Aviator Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, the RVN Gallantry Cross w/Palm for Meritorious Service, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal.

He is survived by his wife, Frieda Martz; children, Robert, Ralph, Angela, and Ronald; sisters, Ann and Nell; brothers-in-law, Louie and Anise; seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many great friends.

He loved God, Jesus his Lord and Savior, his wife, family, and country with all his heart.

A celebration service of Rick’s life will be conducted at the New Vision Baptist Church (1750 North Thompson Lane, Murfreesboro, TN 37129) on Thursday July 10, 2014 at 11am conducted by Bro. Phillip Robinson.
