Prayers to you all…Meck was my first friend when we moved to Lebanon in 1957. I have many wonderful memories of her home and her mom and dad. Ann came to my mama’s service. She was still the same kind and loving person that I remembered from all those years ago. I am so very sorry for your loss.
  4. Beverly Burch McCall says:
Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Meck and I were friends from elementary school through High School. Mom and I ran into your mother early last year before Mom passed away, and she always thought of your Mom as one of her dear friends. I remember playing at your house many times and both of your parents were so kind to me. I am so sorry for your loss and will keep your family in my prayers.
  5. Rochelle says:
Anne and Miles Smith, or as I called them Mom and Dad were two of the finest people that I have ever known. They will always be for me Mom and Dad, and all of their family is in my prayers now and in the days, weeks, and years ahead.
  6. Diana Gallaher says:
Anne was the first person who came with food after my mother died. In recent years, I’ve seen Miles and Anne walking in Academy Place or at church the few times I’ve been recently.

My main memories of your mother are as a child and continuing on until present day, how each time I saw her I thought how pretty she was and such a sharp dresser. I got to know her better about 20 years ago when I attended Sunday School. Your mother was one of the spiritual giants in that class, truly, along with others like Frankie McConnell, Erma Baird and Terrijean Crowell.

Your parents were very much loved in this community. They will be missed. Love and peace on all the family. Diana Gallaher

  7. Lori says:
Prayers are with Mr. Miles and Mrs. Anne’s family. They are such a sweet couple and I am thankful to have known them. I worked at Lebanon First and enjoyed hearing Mrs. Anne’s telephone calls to those that visited the church. I told her that I was going to put my name down as a visitor and have her call me – she left such sweet messages! Again, prayers for their family and friends in the times ahead.

  13. Zandria Gwin says:
To the loving family of Anne and Miles,
I have just learned the news of Anne and Miles and wanted to let you know Anne and my mother grew up together in Hartsville. Anne was so kind to come to Hartsville to see me and my brother when my mother passed October 1st, 2010. I remember meeting Anne when I was about 10. Mother just adored her and spoke many kindnesses of her throughout the years so when she came when mother passed, I was in awe to see her again. Her visit meant the world to me and I wanted to let you know how deeply sorry I am for your losses. My prayers are with you at this time. Much love, Zandria Gwin Hartsville, Tn.
    • Anne Smith Soileau says:
Thank you so much, Zandria. Who was your mother?
      • Zandria Gwin says:
My mother was Martha Frances Cornwell Gwin. She married Alexander Samuel Gwin and they were married 53 years until his death in 2000.
      • Zandria Gwin says:
My mother taught first grade here her whole adult life and was a member of the Hartsville United Methodist Church. My father, often referred to as Zan Gwin, was like your father in that he served in WWII but was in Europe and was in Normandy on D-Day. My mother took me to meet your mother, guessing when I was around 7 or 8, and she was so kind to me. They chatted away for a good long while. Mother mentioned Anne to me several times throughout the years and how sweet she was and when she came to the funeral home and said, I am Anne,,,before she spoke another word, I said KEY,,,and she said, ‘ YES’,,,,WHAT A JOY to see her and mother would have sooooo appreciated knowing she came. It meant the world to me. I have had your family on my mind all day and just held your mother in the highest regard. If there is anything I can do for you, do not hesitate to ask. Love and Hugs to you.
  14. Judy Hopkins Duplantis says:
Dear Anne, Meck, Miles & Virginia, your parents were wonderful people.
  15. Martha Maggart Funke says:
I was so deeply saddened to learn of this great loss to the Lebanon community. Anne was such a loving and giving person. She made me feel so important as a child growing up in Lebanon. I ran into her a few years ago in Abingdon, Va after a Barter Theater play and she made me feel the same way. When my Mother died 2 years ago she was there. My prayers are with you and your family .
