Mildred “Millie” Burford

MILLIE BURFORDMiss Mildred “Millie” Burford age 97 of Lebanon died peacefully while visiting her niece in Michigan.  A native of Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late Hattie Mabry Burford and Robert Jesse Burford.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Agnes Burford “Aggie” Graves and brother-in-law, John Weaver Graves.

She is survived by two nieces:  Harriet (Don) Chesley and Sally (Don) Weinzweig; nephew, Gordy (Linda) Graves; five great-nephews:  Chad (Rhonda) Chesley, Jon (Mary) Weinzweig, Jack (Amy) Chesley, Charlie (Deanna) Graves, Ben Graves; great-niece, Betty Jo Mayberry; eight great-great nephews and four great-great-nieces; cousins: Grace Ann (Terry) Hobbs and Betty Gregory; special friends:  Bill and Harriett Hodges and Virginia Enoch.

Miss Millie lived all of her life on the family farm where she was born.  Her life was spent enjoying family, church friends and her many flower gardens.  When she was in her early 80’s she began pressing flower blossoms and creating pictures and greeting cards.

The family will greet friends Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m.  Family and friends will assemble 10 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2015, at Wilson County Memorial Gardens for graveside services conducted by Bro. Terry Fesler.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to Cedar Grove Baptist Church Building Fund where she was a life-long member.
