Mary Wilson Robinson Swain

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Wilson Robinson Swain will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, April 7, 2017, at the Gladeville Church of Christ with Bro. Bill Speight and Pastor Jason Swain officiating. Interment will follow at Wilson County Memorial Gardens.  Visitation Thursday 4-8 PM at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home and Friday after 2 PM at Gladeville Church of Christ.

Mrs. Swain, age 97 of Gladeville passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at The Pavilion.

Born November 7, 1919, in Wilson County, she was the last surviving child of the late Samuel Wilson and Angie Belle Drennon Robinson. She was a 1938 graduate of Lebanon High School.  She worked as a teller at Lebanon Bank and was a member of the Gladeville Home Demonstration Club.  She was the oldest member of the Gladeville Church of Christ.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-eight years, Walter Paul Swain; great granddaughter, Summar Jean Swain; four sisters, Evelyn Swain, Raye Overton, Martha Evans, and Mae Todd; and a brother, Sam Sherrill Robinson.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul Wilson & Carolyn Swain and James Edwin and Judy Swain; five grandchildren, Lisa (Ken) Quast,   Kelli (Drew) Hendry, Krista (Jeff) Hall, Jason (Lindsay) Swain, and Brian (Diana) Swain; and 14 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers: Jason Swain, Brian Swain, Ken Quast, Jeff Hall, Drew Hendry, Rob Williams, and Kent Williams.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of The Pavilion for their care the last six years.

    I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. Swain. She is from the era where women were true ladies and conducted themselves as ladies. Due to prior engagements I cannot attend visitation or the services, but my thoughts and prayers are with the family. We don’t worry about her future; that is assured to be glorious. I look forward to the day I shall see her in heaven along with those other saints.
