Jesse Simmons coverMr. Jesse Simmons age 97 of Lebanon died March 20, 2016.  A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Jim and Lera Ragland Simmons.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII.  He worked for Tennessee Central Railroad for twenty years and was a carpenter for J.W. VanHook Construction Company.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Mai Huffines Simmons; daughters:  Linda VanHook, Mary Sue McGee; grandsons:  Jimmy Simmons, Danny McGee; great-granddaughter, Madelyn Waddle; brother, Herman Simmons; three sisters:  Delena Merryman, Nannie Huffines, Ivie Woods  Survived by two children:  Malcolm (Evelyn) Simmons and Jessie (Homer) Hughes; Eleven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 1 p.m. from the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Pastor John Hunn officiating.  Interment – Wilson County Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers:  Paul Elliott VanHook, Brad VanHook, Tim McGee, Randy Waddle, Malcolm “Bud” Simmons Jr. Mark Clemmons. Honorary Pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of Quality Care’s “D” Hall.  Visitation Tuesday 4-8 p.m.  and Wednesday after 11 a.m.
