James “Jim” Carroll

JIM CARROLL WEBMr. James “Jim” Carroll, 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends at his residence in Lebanon on December 26, 2015. Mr. Carroll was born in Carfin, Motherwell, Scotland, on October 5, 1927.

Before emigrating from Scotland to Canada in 1956, he received his Bachelor Degree from Royal College of Science & Engineering in Glasgow, Scotland, and was in the Royal Air Force as an Engineer. In 1958, Jim moved his family to California, where he put himself through graduate school at the University of Southern California and obtained his Master of Business Administration. He was VP and General Manager of Babcock Electronics Corp., Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Trivex-Datapac Inc., President and CEO of Parco Inc. In 1979, Jim made his final home in Lebanon, TN. He was Chairman and CEO of Precision Rubber Products, President and CEO of Wynn’s Precision Inc., President, Chairman, and CEO of Wynn’s International, and Consultant for Bourns Inc.

Mr. Jim Carroll loved the sport of golf and was a member of the Belle Meade Country Club, Lebanon Golf & Country Club, and the Golf Club of Tennessee. He served many years on the Cumberland University Board of Trustees and was a faithful member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabella “Isa” Carroll, parents, Patrick and Helen Carroll, sisters: Jean, Susan, Nan, and Helen.

Jim will be greatly missed by his son, Gordon Carroll and his grandsons: Travis, Jimmy, Gordon D., Matthew and Robert Carroll.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Wilson County Memorial Gardens with Father Michael O’Bryan officiating. Pallbearers will be Drew Kennedy, Claude Maynard, Larry McNamee, Michael Penuel, Derek Sage and honorary pallbearer, David Murray from Bellshill, Scotland.  There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service.

    So sorry to learn of Jim’s passing. He was an extraordinary person. I met him when he first moved to Lebanon and at that time talks a lot about jogging. Last saw him at Demo’s Restaurant and he still had that great twinkle in his eyes. I know he loved his grandsons from his comments. He will be missed by his family and many others. Our condolences.     Mr. Carroll was an amazing person, full of knowledge. I enjoyed the times I shared with him. I remember he loved watching golf and soccer ( Manchester United was his favorite team). I enjoyed all the talks we had. You will truly be missed by so many.
