Hazel Elizabeth Queen Barber

Mrs. Hazel Elizabeth Queen Barber, age 92, of Monroe, Michigan and formerly of Lebanon has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, January 13, 2019.

Born December 30, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Rhoda (Jefferson) Williams. In 1939, Hazel married Gordon D. Queen and during the 30 year marriage they raised four children. She later married Wymer Barber who sadly preceded her in death in 2010. Hazel was a member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church.

Hazel was a loving and giving mother to all. She was a peaceful person to be with and always provided warmth and food to whoever came to her home. Her family was always at peace in her presence. Her grandchildren loved her so very much. She made each and every one feel special.

Hazel was a God fearing woman who loved to go to Church and read her Bible. She had three children with disabilities and took loving care of all of them. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafts, embroidery, quilting, and taking loving care of her cherished house plants.

To cherish her memory, Hazel leaves a daughter, Linda (Bill) Austin of Monroe, MI: three grandchildren; William G. Austin, Christopher Austin, and Angela (Dan) Peters: fifteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Hazel is preceded in death by a son, Howard Queen: two daughters; Audrey and Janet Queen: two sisters; Myrtle Jarriet and Gertrude Moses: one brother, Buddy Williams: and a grandson, Daniel Austin.
