fred-flippen-aFuneral services for Mr. Fred Flippen will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Burns and Bro. Forest Creekmore officiating.  Interment will follow at Wilson County Memorial Gardens.  Visitation Friday 3-8 PM and Saturday after 9 AM at Ligon & Bobo.

 

Mr. Flippen, age 91 of Lebanon passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at the Pavilion.

 

He was born in Smith County on May 27, 1925, the son of the late Horace and Irene Taylor Flippen.  He was a lifelong farmer and mule man.  He retired from TRW Ross Gear.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of thirty years, Edna Preston Flippen; the mother of his children, Anna Lee Fleming Smith; son, James H. Flippen; grandson, Kevin Gammon; and brother, Louis Flippen.

 

He is survived by three children: Claudine Wair, Pauline Dennis, and Charles (Sandra) Flippen; daughter in law, Linda Flippen; sisters, Mary Alice Wood and Sue (Kerr) Woods; grandchildren, Kim (Adam) Simmons, Wendy (Matthew) Scott, Tara (Donnie) Puckett, and Chris Gammon; 6 great grandchildren.

Active pallbearers: Adam Simmons, Matthew Scott, Branson Barnes, Chris Gammon, Sherrill Woods, and Robert Alan Wood.

    Claudine, I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Fred’s passing. He was such a nice man and I have so many fond memories of him just in the short time I knew him. His favorite hymn was Go Tell It On the Mountain and always requested it at Praise n Sing. I am keeping you and your family in prayer for peace and comfort during this time. Love you.
