Forrest Allen King Sr.

forrest king webMr. Forrest Allen King Sr. of Lebanon departed this world Tuesday, May 12, 2015, to be with his heavenly Father.  He passed away from an apparent heart attack at the age of 81.  He was born in Trousdale County, TN, June 2, 1933.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Lon W. King and Velma Robertson King; and brother, Rev. Vance King.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Ann McClanahan King; son, Allen King; two daughters:  Jill (Jamie) Luffman, Laurie (Jimmy) Stone; five grandchildren:  Kristen (Matthew)  Meridieth, Spence King, Josh Luffman, Heath (Kelsey) Stone and Haley (Perry) Griffin.

A 1952 graduate of Lebanon High School, he attended Belmont University in Nashville, where he played on the basketball team.  After he married, he worked at King Produce Company with his family and later was co-owner of Mid-South Mirror and Glass Company in Lebanon with his father.  He was active in Boy Scout work, serving as a Scout Master, and as a young man he was an Eagle Scout.  He was active in the Lebanon Jaycees, serving as Regional Vice President.  He served the Lebanon American Legion Post as District Commander.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.  He was formerly a member of Trinity Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as part-time music director.  At the time of his death he was a member of West Hills Baptist Church.  He was loved and will be greatly missed.

His remains rest at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Lebanon, where funeral services are Friday, May 15, 2015, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jonas Taylor officiating.  Interment – Wilson County Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers:  John King, Matthew Meridieth, Heath Stone, Spence King, Josh Luffman, Perry Griffin, Jonathon Early.  Visitation Thursday 5-7 p.m.  and Friday after 10 a.m.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to West Hills Baptist Church Building Fund.
