Evalena Inez Castleman Bennett

Mrs. Evalena Inez Castleman Bennett passed away peacefully at home in Lebanon on Saturday, October 21, 2017 following a short illness. She was 79.

She was predeceased by her father, Macon E. Castleman; her Mother, Katherine Carver Castleman and brother Richard E. Castleman.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Grady S. Bennet; her sisters, Janice Castleman Copely and Bettye Castleman Mason (Allen); brother Ron Castleman (Diane) as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.

Evalena grew up in Mt. Juliet and was a graduate of Mt. Juliet High School’s class of 1956. After her marriage to Grady Bennett in 1960, they made their home in Lebanon.   She worked for Dan Evins at the time he started Cracker Barrel Old Country Store.  She became an officer of the company, serving as Corporate Secretary for many years.  In all she was associated with Cracker Barrel and Evins Properties for almost 45 years.

Evalena’s true love was her family, special friends and art. Her closest friends were also like family to her and she nicknamed them “Evie’s Angels”. She was truly a gifted artist and her family and friends were grateful recipients of her beautiful lasting creative works throughout her life.

The family would like to thank her loyal friends and neighbors for their love and support during this time.

Per her wishes, there will only be a graveside service at Wilson County Memorial Park located on South Maple Street, Lebanon, TN 37087, Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Todd Elliott officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are Charles Fite and Don Turner. Active pallbearers are Tommy Williams, William Glover, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sherry’s Run, which helps cancer patients in need. P.O. Box 8, Lebanon, TN 37088.
