Dorothy Whited Hesson

Mrs. Dorothy Whited Hesson age 93 of Lebanon passed away April 29, 2019. A native of Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late John Leslie and Inez Hughey Whited.  She was a 1944 graduate of Lebanon High School.  She worked as an accountant for the State of Tennessee for thirty-seven years.  She was a member of the First Church of The Nazarene where she played the piano for seventy years.  She loved to grow irises and was a member of the Twin States Iris Society. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, Olaf Hesson; five brothers:  Melvin, J.L., Kenneth, Thurman and Eugene Whited.

She is survived by two children: Edward Hesson, Joy (Keith) Whitley; three grandchildren:  Jonathon Teague (Jenny Jones), Christopher (John Wright) Teague, Daniel Teague (Amanda Wells); two sisters:  Ruby Davis, Catherine Comer; sisters-in-law:  Glenda Whited, Betty Whited, Annie Sue (Joe) Patton, Frances Hesson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 2, 2019, at 1 p.m. from the First Church of The Nazarene, 812 N. Cumberland, Lebanon, with Rev. Gary Wilson and Rev. David Hesson officiating. Interment – Wilson County Memorial Gardens.  Nephews will serve as Active Pallbearers; Honorary Pallbearers:  Jenny Atkinson, Joyce Fanning, Linda Tennpenny, Rose Jones, Maggie Thompson.  Special thanks to staff of the Pavilion and Adoration Hospice.  Visitation Wednesday 4-8 p.m. at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home and Thursday 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at First Church of the Nazarene.
