Claude Martin Jordan

Funeral services for Mr. Claude Martin Jordan will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Rodney Duckett officiating.  Interment will follow at Wilson County Memorial Gardens.  Visitation Monday 3-8 PM and Tuesday after 9 AM at Ligon & Bobo.  Honorary pallbearers:  Deacons and Adult Men’s Class of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.  Active pallbearers: grandsons.

Mr. Jordan, age 89 of Lebanon passed away Friday, May 31, 2019, at Tennova Healthcare in Lebanon.

Born June 17, 1929, at home in Gladeville, Tennessee, he is the son of the late James Bernice Jordan and Grace Lee Foster Jordan.  On August 1, 1953, he married the former Virginia Ruth Sullivan at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Leeville.  He was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He retired from Dupont, operated heavy equipment, and was a lifelong farmer.  He was a member of the Wilson County Fair Board, where he had served as the chairman of the crops exhibit for many years.  He had recently been named Wilson County Old Timer by the fair.  He had also served on the Wilson Bank & Trust Community Council, and was past member of the executive committee of the Wilson County Baptist Association.  He was also a member of the American Legion and Wilson County History Associates.   He was an avid woodworker and gardener.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Bernice Lee, Kenneth Odell, Thomas Levi Jordan, and Carl Ray Jordan; and a sister, Estelle Harelston.

He is survived by his wife of over sixty five years, Virginia Ruth Sullivan Jordan; two children: James H. (Judy) Jordan and Pamela Jean (Jim) Jones; five grandchildren: Stephen (Kim) Ash; Jeremy (Julia) Ash; Matthew (Ashley) Ash; Bradley (Beth) Jordan; Lauren (Andy) Pack; step granddaughter: Jessica (Jason) Cline; nine great grandchildren: Cason, Elliott, Karson, Lucy, Jordan, Kinley and Sawyer Ash; Amon Jerry “A.J.” Pack, and Arlo Claude Pack; two step great grandchildren: Grant and Chloe Cline; and three sisters: Linda Burnett; Nancy (Robert) Ray; and Martha (James) Dillahay.
