Memorial service for Mr. Bobby J. Shelton will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 19, 2019, at West Hills Baptist Church with Bro. Will McReynolds, Bro. Ross Locke, and Billy Brummett officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 – 3 at West Hills Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers: Explore the Bible Sunday School Class.
Mr. Shelton, age 84 of Lebanon passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019.
Born July 20, 1934, in Wilson County, he is the son of the late William Logue Shelton and Annie Laura Davis Shelton. He gave his life to Jesus at an early age, and was a faithful member of West Hills Baptist Church. He was very proud of his Scottish heritage, and had made two trips to Scotland. For many years, he enjoyed playing guitar and singing with his brother Steve in a band. He was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War. He was very patriotic. He retired from Precision Rubber, and enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. He also enjoyed reading books on theology. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Shelton; and son in law, Randy Locke.
He dearly loved his family. He is survived by his wife of sixty two years, Billie Mathis Shelton, who he married on April 17, 1957; four children: Jan Locke, Mike (Teresa) Shelton, Chris(Diane) Shelton, and Julie (Ed) Holland; five grandchildren: Kristin (Bobby) Tayse, Ross (Anna) Locke, Kyle Shelton, Evan (Shelby) Shelton, and Jackson Holland; five great grandchildren: Chandler Shelton, Katie Shelton, Abigail & Adelyn Locke, and Emme Vann; great great grandchild, Blakely Shelton; sister, Fay (Bobby) Murray; and brother, Steve (Jennie) Shelton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Youth Group at West Hills Baptist Church.
