Michael Kirby and Pastor John Hunn officiating.  Interment will follow at Wilson County Memorial Gardens.  Visitation Friday 2-7 PM at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home and Saturday after 9 AM at Immanuel Baptist Church.

Mr. Boykin, age 83 of Lebanon passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at his home.

Born March 17, 1933, in Wilson County, he is the son of the late German Boyd Boykin and Bessie Jane Hootin Boykin.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and worked at Ford Motor Company from 1957 to 1992.  He was a very active member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, youth Sunday school and training union teacher, children’s Sunday school worker, and also served as training union director.  He also sang in the choir, and was best known as being a hand shaker.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Richard Kirby; sisters, Mary Jones, Anna Rhea Harmon, Elizabeth Gann, and Pauline Harmon; and three brothers, Walter, G. N., and J. W. Boykin.

He is survived by his wife Pauline Hobbs Boykin who he married December 25, 1952; son, Wayne (Kim) Boykin; five grandsons, Michael (Heather) Kirby, Randy (Brittnye) Kirby, Russell (Elizabeth) Kirby, Keith (Michelle) Boykin, and Kenneth (Jennifer) Boykin; and nine great grandchildren, Cameron & Sarah Kirby, Zoe, Hailey & Cooper Kirby, Duke & Zane Kirby, and Brendan & Brayden Boykin.
