Bettie Bishop Matthews
Mrs. Bettie Bishop Matthews age 88 of Lebanon passed away May 13, 2019. She was born in Hamilton County, TN, June 11, 1930, the daughter of the late Ellis Sylvester Bishop and Ella Sovania Bowman Bishop. She was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and was a member of Lebanon First Baptist Church. She was a retired nurse anesthetist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Paul Matthews; two brothers: Herbert and Cecil Bishop; two sisters: Barbara Bishop, Bernice Mayforth.
She is survived by two children: Gayla Sasser, Doug (Beverly) Matthews; sister, Lois Farmer; brother, Bobby Bishop; three grandchildren: Kayce Matthews, Kelley Wilson, Paula Sasser; four great-grandchildren: Logan and James Fakes, Kaylee and John Alexander Wilson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at 1 p.m. from the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. David Freeman officiating. Interment – Crestview Memorial Park in Gallatin. Visitation Wednesday 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
