Messages for the Family

  1. Suzanne Locke Norfleet says:
Aldena Williams served as my grandmother longer than either of my biological grandmothers. In middle school, my amazing Sunday school teacher, Rick Thorne, asked us to select members of the congregation who didn’t have family of their own as our adopted grandparents. My dad steered me towards two jewels, Aldena Williams and Sallie Bass. Aldena was like my dad, in that she loved details. She’d say, “Well, I came in from mowing my grass at 2:17.” Even in her late 80s, she still mowed her acre yard and planted a garden to share vegetables with all of her friends. For a while, she tended to a stray dog. She’d make him eggs and bacon; she’d have coffee. She was an early female manager at Bradley Candy, but the Russell Stover’s assorted box remained her favorite. She was always dressed her finest, usually with a brooch and scarf. She visited every shut in and picked up friends for church who couldn’t drive. She loved my boys and Stephen. I never dreamed that our relationship would last beyond my own kids’ middle school years. I know that my dad welcomed her into heaven with a hug last night, and she said, “Well, Larry, how are you doin’?!”
  2. Patricia C. Mulkey says:
My sweet Aunt Aldena was loved by so many people because of her generous nature and good soul. We are lesser and Heaven is fuller today. I will miss you, Aldena.
  3. Randy Mulloy says:
I am so sorry to hear of Ms Aldena, She and her dear sweet Mother , Ms Nannie as everyone called her, Jack Pugh rented her farm for years. It was always a pleasure to stop there everyday to feed the livestock , and Ms. Nannie always had a piece of wonderful pie or a cobbler and a cold glass of milk. They were two of the finest Ladies i ever met. and i loved them dearly.
